Women's jute sandals: Mediterranean tradition with a modern soul

Esparto sandals are part of the collective Mediterranean imagination. They are named after esparto, a strong plant fibre that was used for centuries to make soles and other everyday items. These sandals represent a craft tradition deeply rooted in popular culture, linked to manual work, know-how passed down from generation to generation and respect for natural materials.

Jute, the golden fibre

Over time, this technique has evolved, and today many of these sandals are made with jute, a similarly natural fibre but with significant environmental advantages. Jute, mainly grown in humid climates, requires no additional irrigation, making it a highly sustainable and environmentally friendly material. It is also biodegradable, renewable and low impact.

Authenticity and evolution

This change of material does not mean a loss of authenticity, but a responsible adaptation to today’s needs. Esparto —now jute— sandals retain their aesthetic essence, lightness, comfort and strong link to summer, the earth and tradition.
